I recently attended the VMUG (VMware User Group) UserCon held in Italy where I talked about Cohesity’s converged data protection and integration with VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation. Kind of a mouthful, but it’s a topic that I’m frequently asked about because it piques the interest of many people. Cohesity is solving a very real problem for these folks.
The focus of my presentation was on three powerful capabilities: integration, protection, and recoverability when it comes to what Cohesity’s DataPlatform provides for VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)-based infrastructures.
Where VMware Cloud and Data Protection Intersect
For context, Cohesity and VMware have a joint solution that combines the availability and recoverability of VMware Cloud Foundation with the Cohesity DataPlatform. I’ve included some helpful links in this blog explain more:
- Converged Data Protection and Multi-Cloud Data Fabric for VMware Cloud Foundation
- Enterprise Protection and Recoverability for VMware Cloud Foundation with Cohesity
Here’s a quick VCF explainer:
VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) delivers the VMware enterprise cloud in a natively integrated stack for both private and public clouds. Every organization strives to achieve the right balance among the multitudes of necessary requirements to ensure optimal performance, security, reliability, availability, and (yes) protection of data. While failures are a given in modern infrastructures, frequent and lengthy data/database performance degradation and outages are conditions that most modern enterprises cannot tolerate in today’s economies. As the industry’s leading engineered solution for SDDC deployments for private and public clouds, the availability and recoverability of the VCF management infrastructure components have to adhere to higher business requirements for availability and recoverability.
