In the past six months since joining Cohesity, I’ve spent time with many of our large customers, as well as our technology and channel partners, industry thought leaders, and employees across the globe. I’m super excited about our vision for where we are taking this great company, leading the next era of data security and management.
When I reflect on why we’re experiencing this tremendous momentum—even in an economic downturn—I can see that it’s because our modern platform is disrupting the legacy players. We’re able to showcase some impressive cost of ownership and ROI benefits and are leading the frontier of how you think about data security and management. But most importantly, it comes down to people. I’m very proud of our employees and the companies and industry leaders we’re partnering with to make a difference in securing and managing that critical asset: a company’s (and its customers’) data.
Organizations are facing big challenges
While this blog will just cover the highlights of “why Cohesity,” you can watch my video below to get more details. But let’s start with what’s keeping our customers up at night:
- Their data is under attack. There are 20 ransomware attack attempts every 11 seconds. That is an astonishing number.
- It takes about 270 days to identify and recover from a data breach. This is tremendously disruptive to business.
- And 50% of data sits on a public cloud with most of it (about 70%) unleveraged. Meaning, there are no analytics attached to that data. Imagine the potential rich insights all that data holds.
It makes sense why Cohesity is seeing such traction in the market. It’s because we sit at the nexus of those three challenges: security, cloud, and analytics.
Why Cohesity?
I like to think of our differentiation as the three s’s: scale, simplicity, and security. You have to be both consumer simple and enterprise secure. You’ve got to be Google scale with Apple-like simplicity, and that’s what we’ve built here. The scalability of the Cohesity solution is second to none, but its simplicity is also a big differentiator compared to existing solutions. You’ve also got to be thinking about security not as a bolted-on afterthought, but built on a foundation of Zero Trust Security principles that are built deep into the architecture, so that you can confidently detect, protect, and recover from inevitable ransomware attacks.
And as I mentioned, it’s very important to think about the convergence of security, management, and analytics in a data cloud. That’s what we’re doing. The architecture has been built to be hybrid cloud and multicloud. Organizations can start on-premises managing, protecting, and securing all their workloads, whether it’s virtual machines or databases or apps. Then, with the same solution, we help customers with their move to the public cloud, whether AWS or Azure. So this architecture is future-proofed, giving you hybrid and multicloud capabilities in one solution with one simple user interface.
