A robust cyber recovery strategy is critical. Just look at two statistics from a 2023 study. Eighty-two percent of breaches involved data stored in cloud environments. The same study found that the average cost of a data breach reached an all-time high of $4.45 million. As noted by IDC, Cohesity has emerged as a leader in this space.
Today, with that backdrop, we’re pleased to announce the general availability of Cohesity’s integration with Wiz—making Cohesity the inaugural partner in Wiz’s new cyber resilience integration category. This partnership empowers our mutual customers to prioritize protecting cloud workloads with critical risks, increasing their resilience in the face of potential attacks.
Watch the video below to see how the integration works.
How Wiz identifies and prioritizes critical issues
Wiz continuously analyzes configurations, vulnerabilities, sensitive data exposures, secrets, and more across workloads in the cloud to identify the critical issues that combined represent the real risk. As an example, Wiz scans your cloud to identify all the workloads that exist and then scans these workloads to identify sensitive data like protected health information (PHI) that, combined with other risks like misconfigurations, can lead to data breaches. Wiz then automatically prioritizes which risks across your cloud have the most impact on your environment.
Wiz’s integration with Cohesity’s AI-powered data security and management platform seamlessly merges Wiz’s cloud workload risk analysis with the protection status of these workloads in Cohesity. The result? The ability to prioritize backing up workloads most vulnerable to attacks safeguards your company’s critical assets.
“Organizations are increasingly confronted with the imperative to safeguard their most critical assets and data, enabling swift recovery and resuming business operations in the face of potential data breaches. The collaboration between Wiz and Cohesity is a direct response to this pressing market need. We are excited to provide this valuable solution in partnership with Cohesity, empowering our shared customers to protect their critical cloud workloads effectively.”

How IT and SecOps teams can use this integration
Configuring the integration from the Cohesity dashboard is simple, following the steps outlined in our previous blog. Once activated, run a sync operation on demand or leave it to occur automatically at a pre-set time daily.
Cohesity’s integration with Wiz is bidirectional and comprehensive. It involves the ingestion of Wiz’s findings, encompassing data sensitivity, security exposures like toxic combinations and cloud misconfigurations, and detected threats. These insights are presented through tags, allowing users to review them alongside the current protection status of each data object on the Sensitive Data Posture page within the Security Center. Moreover, Cohesity enriches Wiz with metadata about assets not protected by Cohesity and utilizes the Wiz Security Graph. This bidirectional integration empowers users to generate reports and execute queries for all assets with a resilience plan spanning all their cloud accounts within Wiz—enhancing the overall security and management capabilities.
With this insight, you can quickly protect critical data on workloads with risks not backed up by Cohesity, reducing your cyber recovery risk. Share the latest protection status with risk and compliance teams to help assess your organization’s cyber recovery and compliance risks effectively.
