Data Management Requirements

Target Deduplication for Oracle
Oracle RMAN can use the Cohesity DataPlatform as a deduplication target. For this option, Cohesity is presented as an NFS volume, enabling direct mounting to Oracle database servers. No intermediate media servers are required.
RMAN automatically leverages Cohesity’s QoS policy for optimal data tiering as well as global deduplication and compression to reduce secondary storage consumption and footprint.

- Supports existing DBA processes with no changes required by DBA
- Leverages Cohesity scale out platform

Source Deduplication for Oracle
For this option, Cohesity is presented as an NFS volume, but RMAN calls for the Cohesity Oracle Source Side Deduplication plugin. This allows for storage-efficient deduplication that enhances the environment with faster backups and reduced network traffic by only sending new data blocks.

- Faster Backups
- Reduce Network traffic between Oracle DB servers and Cohesity DataPlatform
- Enables more frequent backups resulting in RPOs
