We are excited to share that Cohesity Release 3.5 is now Generally Available for customer deployments. Over the summer we delivered our Cohesity 3.0 release, which expanded our solution footprint and extended our application protection story with SQL database and log backups & recovery. With our 3.5 release, we’ve enhanced the product in a major way, starting with a comprehensive set of RESTful APIs, VMware’s vRealize Automation and Orchestration (VRO) Integration, expanded support for Oracle and SQL, and performance improvements across the board.
When we look at our customers’ business challenges for data protection, we break them into RPO and RTO challenges. Our built-in capability to provide instant access via direct-mount for all protected workloads eliminates the RTO challenges right out of the gate. Cohesity Release 3.5 allows customers to instantly access backup images via NFS or SMB, and bring predictable RTOs for all workloads including Physical Windows and Linux workloads. Our instant, limitless snapshots address the RPO challenges. Our Cohesity snapshots combined with source-side Change Block Tracking (CBT) and/or source-side Dedupe, enables you to rapidly create new recovery points on a continuous basis.
We have improved Cohesity Physical Windows Adapter by adding ability to ingest data in parallel from each Windows Server, which when combined with Change Block Tracking (CBT) allows customers to meet their stringent RPOs, with incremental forever backups.
Cohesity Physical Linux Adapter support for source-side deduplication allows efficient use of network resources and improves overall backup performance. This is critical for application dump workloads which generate large amount of redundant data. In addition, the Cohesity Physical Linux Adapter source-side dedupe engine integrates with Oracle SBT, which allows customers to perform fast, efficient backups of Oracle dumps.
We’ve been supporting Granular Level Recoveries for applications like Microsoft Exchange, SQL and SharePoint for a while now. We’ve enhanced our instant restore capabilities and automated the workflow. It has greatly simplified Granular Recovery experience for Microsoft Exchange, SQL and SharePoint. Our Recover-as-Mount feature now allows customers to select any snapshot and mount it to appropriate server in less than 4 clicks!
VMware users now have the option of integrating with VMware’s vRealize Automation and Orchestration (VRO) and provide data protection services at the time of provisioning. Our full set of RESTful APIs and VRO plug-in now allow customers to automate and deploy Cohesity in their existing vRO/vRA workflows, without the need to login to our UI at all! Customers now have the ability to recover their vCenter VMs to ESXi hosts, adding resiliency to the VMware restore operations.
It’s gratifying to work with an energetic engineering team who is making our vision possible at such a pace and to get a release out the door and see customers adopt it.
