The holidays are always a festive time of year, regardless of what you celebrate, and the times are no different here at Cohesity!
We have much for which to be thankful and lots of work yet to do.
But during this short period of the holidays, I wanted to take the time to reflect on some things specific to Cohesity, our culture, and what’s been going on within the green walls of our offices in Santa Clara, CA!
One of the things I am most thankful for is a company whose values directly align with my own. I cannot say that I have always had that at previous employers, so it is wholly refreshing to be somewhere that embraces many of the same things that I live with day-in and day-out!
One of the things that were instilled at a very early stage is our culture and core values. Several of you have seen photos via the various press outlets of the saying on our wall…
This is intrinsic to the culture at Cohesity and something I am very proud of as an employee.
Employee Gift
As a thank you, every employee was gifted a FitBit ChargeHR from the executive team. This is a tradition that has been carried forward from previous years.
Personally, I’m a big fan of this gift. One of the most difficult things we deal with in the IT industry is proper work-life balance, and admittedly I am one of the worst at it. Being a remote worker and constantly traveling brings along with it a certain level of 18-hour days, and it becomes difficult to even allow yourself the right amount of sleep, proper diet, and making sure you’re exercising. Awareness around what you do with your 24 hours every day is a big part of this balance. Getting enough sleep, exercise, calorie intake, etc, are all part of this process. In a way, it’s scary to be told just how bad you are at something, but understanding what you’re doing wrong is the first step at fixing a problem, and in my mind that’s what the FitBit brings to the table.
I’m looking forward to giving this device an honest shot, and seeing if it can both knock away some of my bad habits and improve my level of balance in my life.
Big thanks to the exec team for this awesome gift!
Extending Our Thanks
If we take a step back and look at all of the crazy problems going on in the world today, it’s very easy to lose sight of what’s important during the holidays.
Family. Sharing. Giving.
As part of our sharing of the holiday spirit, Cohesity has decided to work with Family Giving Tree in order to provide a family with gifts this holiday season. A single mom with three small children asked for groceries, and the kids asked for a variety of books, toys, and dolls.
This gave me such a warm feeling that my employer would participate in something as simple as bringing joy to children. This is also one of the activities I personally participate in every year in Los Angeles. To be able to do again with my employer is an amazing feeling!
If you’d like to sponsor a family, I can tell you it is one of the most rewarding feelings! Head over to the website and sign up!
Wrapping Up 2015
As we bring 2015 to a close, we have to take a step back and recognize just how far we’ve come in roughly one-half of a year as a startup. When we came out of stealth in June, we knew we had a pretty hectic journey ahead of us. But the team assembled here at Cohesity has proven themselves resilient, and in a mere four months built and staffed our first major trade show at VMworld, attended and presented at dozens of other industry events, and GA’ed our product in October with piles of technical collateral, presentations, and an ever-evolving message around Secondary Storage. This doesn’t even truly highlight the feats of engineering that are being achieved, but the roadmap is strong, sales are coming in, and we are ready to go out and conquer the world in 2016.
Please travel safe, enjoy the time spent with your loved ones, and from all of us here at Cohesity, a sincere THANK YOU to all of our current (and future!) customers!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
